Coalition of Community Based Youth Serving Agencies

The Coalition first came together in 1995 due to the high incidence of gang activity in Winnipeg's in the inner city. The primary intention was that the four original agencies would share information, wisdom, and resources to support one another. The initial meeting was so successful and fruitful that they formed the CCBYSA. The Coalition provides a forum
for agencies to speak from their collective experience. Some of the member agencies are very small, while others are quite large.
This forum allows the smaller agencies to have access to information and resources that they might not normally have access to. By being involved in the Coalition, these various agencies unite to create a strong partnership to benefit the people that they serve. When functioning as an advocate for youth and youth issues, the Coalition is stronger and more influential as a group than individual agencies would be. The Coalition has succeeded in creating and implementing many joint projects that have benefited the youth and communities served.
